SPORTS AND ADVENTURE

Due to varying climate conditions and geography, Sri Lanka is an ideal destination for sports tourism. Some of the popular sports include Golf, Surfing, Diving & Snorkeling, Hot Air Ballooning, Rafting and Canoeing, Scuba Diving, Fishing, Cycling, Hiking, Trekking and Rock Climbing.

White water rafting

Great Fun, Adventure, Excitement and the ideal Outdoor Experience! Find all these elements in Rafting and Canoeing at “Kelani” River in Kithulgala. Fall in love with the rapids, Water and Greenery that Nature has to offer you in this part of the Country!

Surfing

Get on your surfboard and get ready to jump on the waves, because Arugam Bay is the surfers’ paradise with over 10 surf points. Its’ fantastic waves attract surfers from all over the world.

Boating (Benthota, Bolgoda, Madhu ganga, Koggala)

Bentota known for its broad golden beaches is situated in the southern coastal zone of Sri Lanka, a mere 90 minute drive from Colombo. Benthota forms the “Sun & Fun” water sport capital of Sri Lanka with a gamut of activates. These include snorkelling/scuba diving, wind surfing,water skiing or jet skiing and many others.

Trekking (Knuckles Mountain Range, Horton plains, Sripada aka Adam's peak)

For the keen hiker, there is a plethora of opportunities awaiting in Sri Lanka ‘s diverse and luscious hill country. The beautiful Knuckles mountain range, located in the hill country of Sri Lanka , provides a superb base from which to try out a wide variety of hiking and trekking tours through jungle, across paddy fields and up mountains. The river and numerous waterfalls in Sri Lanka are another key attraction that allows hikers and trekkers to enjoy a refreshing dip en-route!

The mysterious HORTON PLAINS NATIONAL PARK offers some excellent hikes in an unusual environment, characterised by forest patches, grasslands and some high-altitude vegetation. Highlights include the dramatic 880 metre drop at “World’s End” and the beautiful Baker’s Falls.

When climbing the famous ADAM’S PEAK WILDERNESS SANCTURY (SRI PADA) , its best to begin your ascent at night in order to arrive at the top in time for a magical sunrise when the mystical shadow of the peak is perfectly cast across the clouds. It is one of those truly unique moments that will live on in your memory long after the aches and pains from the hiking have gone!

Hot air ballooning – Kandalama

Imagine floating over some of Sri Lanka’s dramatically varying landscapes ranging from the world heritage sites, cultural sites, lakes and rivers. Hot air ballooning is a relatively new activity to Sri Lanka, in response to the ongoing search for new and exciting ways of seeing the country, it provides a remarkable experience never to be forgotten. With no two flight paths the same, it will be a unique journey.
